Break the Language Barrier: Flawless Thai Transcription in Google Meet

Internal tool · Loxley Orbit
Captures Google Meet captions and saves them to your Drive as a Google Doc, and can write meeting notes — summary, decisions and action items — from either the captions or the meeting recording.
Using it
- Join a Meet call. A pink button appears at the right-hand end of the control bar, next to the hang-up button.
- Click it to open the panel, then press play to start transcribing. Captions are turned on for you.
- When the meeting ends, press Save for the transcript alone, or Summarize for notes plus the transcript.
- The document opens in a new tab and is filed under Meeting Transcriptions in your Drive. If the meeting has a calendar event you own, it is attached there too.
Meetings in Thai
Google Meet does not offer Thai captions, so there is nothing to capture live. Use Summarize recording instead: someone must have recorded the meeting, and Meet needs a few minutes after the call to prepare the file. The recording is transcribed and summarized, which takes several minutes for a long meeting — the panel shows progress as it goes.
Common problems
The button is not on the control bar
It only appears while you are actually in a call, not in the lobby or on the "you left the meeting" screen. If it is missing during a call, open the extension's popup from the toolbar and use Show button.
"Google has not granted access yet"
Open the extension popup from the Chrome toolbar and sign in. You will be asked to approve access to Drive, and to Meet recordings and your calendar.
"This build can't sign in to Google"
A configuration problem in the build itself, not something you can fix. Report it — see below.
Captions were missed
Only what Meet actually displays as captions can be captured. If Meet's captions were off, or set to a language nobody was speaking, there is nothing to capture. Check the caption language matches the meeting.
"No calendar event found for this meeting"
The document still saved — only the calendar attachment was skipped. It attaches to events on calendars you own, so a meeting organised by someone else will not be updated.
"No finished recording for this meeting yet"
Either nobody recorded it, or Meet has not finished processing the file. Processing usually takes a few minutes after the call ends; try again later.
What happens to meeting content
Documents are created in your own Drive. Summaries are produced by a service running in Loxley Orbit's own Google Cloud project, and recording audio is deleted as soon as it has been transcribed. Details are in the privacy policy and terms of service.
Reporting a problem
Email saran.o@loxleyorbit.com. What helps most:
- What you pressed, and what happened instead.
- The exact message shown in the panel.
- The extension version, from
chrome://extensions. - If the button is misplaced or captions are being missed: open the panel's settings and use Diagnostics, then send a screenshot of that page. It reports what the extension can and cannot find on the Meet page, which is usually the whole answer.
